Romeo Tosti Interview

Hello and welcome to the Kogarah Gazette, today we will be interviewing. Romeo Tosti. Romeo, welcome

Hello, such an honour to be here

As we know, there is a obesity epidemic among children, what do you think is the underlying cause of the epidemic?

Well, as we know, technology has now become a big part of our lives and ill probably be the first to admit, I use it alot. This excessive use of technology makes children spend less or even no time outdoors and with the lack of physcial excerises, you are putting yourself at a much bigger risk of getting obese.

Wow, such wise words

Thankyou

How can people reduce the amount of screen time that children get

Well, it all comes down to the parents and how they can enforce the rules of screen time. They need to start giving their child limits on the amount of screen time they have per day. If their child fails to comply, then its up to the parents to give a punishment to the child. There are many apps out there that parents can shut down their childs internet when the want to or set limits to the amount of internet a child can use before it automatically disconects.

Wow, I might use it with my children

Hahahaha

What in your opinion is benefits of physcial activity

Well physical activity is very good physically as it increases muscle strength and function, it helps maintain a healthy body weight by burning calories and it helps prevent many diseases which we are all common with such as, dementia, diabeties and cancer. It is very good mentally and spiritually as it promotes positive behaviour by making you feel better about your body shape. Though this is all good but to maintain these healthy habits, you must continue doing excersise or else you will get obese again and you will need to have some form of diet so you don't eat more to compensate for your excersise as you can have put on more calories then your body can burn in that time frame you excrsise for and overtime, that adds up.

Ok,
Many people know that our schedules change as we get older. How does this affect sport

Our scedules changes throught life but once we enter the workforce, many people don't have the opportunity to continue doing sport which leads to many people to discontinue doing sport.

Ok, and how can we prevent this

Well it is up to debate on what you want to do but I would recommend that weekends are an optimal chance to fit in some excersise and I highly recommend you do it early in the morning so your body is more awake, alert and thinking better.

Wow. Their are many health campaigns that assists in achieving your physical goals, which one would you recommend.

For the young ones, BeActiveKids is a very good campaign that encourages physical activity in young children and has done some ground-breaking work in Australia and some 3rd world coutries around the world. For adults I highly recommend the Heart Foundation, Walking, as walking is one of the most relaxing forms of excersise as well as burning calories and fat and you can plan walking trips with friends and family members and allows you to reach your personal physical goals.

We have had many people ask questions about warming up and cooling down, do you mind telling us your input on this matter?

Warming up and cooling down are good ways to either prepare your body for physical activity and also to cool down from doing excersise but their are some things you should keep and eye out for. Warming up when done correctly promotes better preformance and consentration but if you to much or to little it can actually decrease the preformance you do due to either working your body so much that you become tired out or not doing enough to effectively warm up leaving you less focused in a match. Cooling down in my opinion has no issues to it just as long as you dont work yourself to much during a cool down because the whole point of it is to allow for your joints to recover from physical activity. For a warm up and cool down I would recommend to do stretches or do a very short jog

Well I appreciate you coming along for this interview, and unfortunately, thats all we have time for today. Romeo, thank you for spending your time here

Thankyou, I appreciate it
